The Oscars

It was nice.

Like as in, kind of mostly boring. Sometimes I like boring.

Classic, Traditional moments happen when things are Boring.

The King and the Queen of the evening conducted them selves with the upmost of grace. Congratulations. So nice of you to share a journey to be appreciated.

Natalie Portman in her most vulnerable state of womanhood, thank you for sharing so eloquently.

Reese Witherspoon was simple, no sequins, just stunning.

Celine always so angelic, always. I'd like to ask her one day if she ever "loses" it? More important if she could share her thoughts on keepin it all calm.

Mr Kirk Douglas, sooooo funny, I love humour, dry, thoughtful funny, no one gets hurt, we all have a chuckle, good old fashion funny. Priceless.

It was a great night, there were ups and downs.

The stage was a little plain.

The award winners represented a large spectrum of film makers, touched many friends and family and community. So important when we celebrate to include all those that are a part of the team, sometimes even the fan's...

3rd Party

It's a Fundraiser

Missing Children captured the hearts of their corporate partners. So important for charities like these to have the community reach out and thank them for all the hard and important work they do.

A couple of dude's had an idea, saw an opportunity and just like that, Benefit was Born.

So often it's the Company, the Corporation that gets the 15 minutes of fame. The Logo posted in lights.

The reality is it's the people that each day create it.

"in the future everybody will be famous for fifteen minutes."
 Andy Warhol

Look out here come the Arts

The Band took the stage, like they so often do, quietly, anonymously, with grace. Then the music starts, next the realization, if your lucky enough to know what a unique treat the trio is bringing to the benefit.

For years Tim Tamishiro and Sheldon Zandboer have been sharing their musical genius with Calgarians. Tim's Show "Tonic" all things refreshingly Jazz and them some, can be caught on CBC Radio Two. Look for it!

 "The" Oscar Lopez

On this night Oscar decided to join the duet before his solo set.
If you've ever listened to Oscar you know what an amazing gift of guitar he possesses.

To see him in person makes you feel like your the only one in the room. The passion, the intellect, the training, so abundant it's all consuming.

Wonderful how musicians are so willing to share gift, talents and the stage.

Collaboration was indeed a theme of the evening.

Jason Gogo

Colourful comes to mind over and over.

Not just about the canvas that hangs on the wall, More about the spirit that created it.

The Art and the Man.

So visually strong, the scene read like an open book to me.

Andy does live on in an era that he himself was able to envision.

I can't help think he knew he was a head of his time...

Andrew Warhola

Andy Warhol

The sun is shining briliantly on this February day. Just the way Andy would of liked it. There was something about the sun and beauty that captured him.

The Marilyn Monroe Diptych was one of his first paintings in 1962. It projected the image of how he saw things and solidifed his style as a pop artist.

Yet it wasn't until after his untimely death in 1987 and the creation of his foundation that he became an artist worthy of history books.

In 1983 a Canadian Gallery owner, Frans Wynans commisioned Warhol to paint the then young 22 year old hockey star; Wayne Gretzky. Frans had suggested to Peter Pocklington that he should invest in an up and coming artist like Warhol...
